The Suzuki Jimny continues to prove that great things can come in small packages.
There’s something frustrating about knowing Suzuki still sells the Jimny around the world while American enthusiasts can only admire it from afar.
And now, Suzuki has given us yet another reason to want one.
The quirky Japanese automaker has officially approved a new collection of factory-backed accessories for its legendary compact 4×4. With these upgrades installed, the already capable Jimny transforms into an even more rugged and stylish little off-roader.
It’s exactly the kind of small adventure vehicle many enthusiasts wish they could buy here in the United States.
The Samurai legacy lives on
For American buyers, the Suzuki Jimny name may sound unfamiliar — but its history isn’t.
That’s because Suzuki previously sold the vehicle in the U.S. under the name Samurai.
The Samurai remained available in North America until 1995, when increasing concerns surrounding SUV safety, rollover testing, and changing consumer expectations made it difficult for the aging platform to continue competing.
At the time, SUVs were rapidly growing in popularity, and safety regulations were becoming increasingly demanding.
Unfortunately, the Samurai’s foundation dated back to 1981, leaving Suzuki with limited options to update the vehicle enough to satisfy new requirements.
As a result, Suzuki pulled the Samurai from the American market, and the company’s tiny off-roader never officially returned.
The Jimny keeps the legend alive
In 2018, Suzuki introduced the fourth-generation Jimny, instantly reminding enthusiasts around the world why the little 4×4 had such a loyal following.
With its boxy styling, compact dimensions, ladder-frame construction, and genuine off-road capability, the Jimny became one of the most beloved small SUVs on the market.
Unfortunately, it remains unavailable to American buyers.
Today, the Jimny continues to thrive in Japan, Europe, and select Asian markets. However, as the current generation approaches its tenth year, Suzuki has found a way to keep the model fresh: official factory accessories inspired by the aftermarket community.
Inspired by a fan-favorite concept
The new accessory lineup takes inspiration from the Gozel Outdoor Concept, a Jimny customized for Japan’s Jimny enthusiast gathering, JimnySunlight 2026.
The concept featured exterior upgrades originally developed by aftermarket company AWIN, creating a more aggressive appearance package for the compact SUV.
The response from fans was strong enough that Suzuki decided to take action.
Rather than leaving the parts as aftermarket-only upgrades, Suzuki officially partnered with AWIN to bring them into the company’s genuine accessory catalog.

A tougher look for a tiny 4×4
The factory-backed accessories include upgraded front and rear bumper components, along with a unique Gozel rear spare tire cover.
The package also adds reinforced skid plates with eye-catching red accents, a new honeycomb-style front grille, and matching red mud flaps.
Individually, each modification is relatively subtle. But together, they give the Jimny a much tougher and more adventurous personality.
The result is a compact SUV that looks far more capable than its small dimensions suggest.
Small size, serious character
The Suzuki Jimny has always been about maximizing capability with minimal size.
It doesn’t rely on massive engines, luxury features, or oversized proportions. Instead, it delivers simple, lightweight, old-school off-road charm — something that has become increasingly rare in modern vehicles.
These new official accessories only strengthen that appeal.
And once again, they leave American enthusiasts wondering the same thing:
Why can’t we get the Jimny here?
